At the Borderless 4.0 Watch Party in Port Harcourt, a panel of young tech enthusiasts shared how they began their careers in Web3 and technology.
The session, moderated by Esther Peter, featured MarvvyFC, Blacdav, Precious, and PlutoDev, four individuals whose journeys into tech started from unexpected moments but grew through consistency, curiosity, and the power of community.
As a fast-growing digital ecosystem designed to equip young Africans with skills in Web3, Borderless has utilized blockchain, and software development for mentorship, collaboration, and real-world projects.
Starting Small, Dreaming Big
For PlutoDev, his tech journey started humbly, with curiosity about basic gadgets like calculators. His real entry into tech came during an academic disruption, a pause that became a turning point.
“That break made me explore online learning and connect with people doing amazing things,” he said.
It was through this period that he met Karlagod, the tech lead for the Borderless developer ecosystem. Under Karlagod’s mentorship, PlutoDev joined Chainconnect and has since contributed to multiple startup projects, growing from a curious learner to a confident developer.
From Volunteering to Versatility
Precious shared how his path was marked by exploration and persistence. He had attended several tech events before discovering Borderless, but his real breakthrough came through volunteering.
“Volunteering opened the door,” he explained. “I started connecting with people who believed in learning by doing.”
Through Borderless, Precious joined the Cybersecurity Cipher Session, gaining hands-on experience and building expertise. Over time, he expanded his skills into content creation and community management, becoming a multi-skilled contributor in the ecosystem.

For Blackdav, joining Borderless was about finding confidence and direction. His interest in tech was first sparked in 2022, but he officially joined the Borderless community in 2023.
“At first, I didn’t have much confidence,” he admitted. “But Karlagod believed in me and gave me space to grow as a developer.”
He described his experience in the Borderless ecosystem as “nothing short of exciting,” crediting the mentorship and hands-on projects for transforming his skills and mindset.
Building Confidence Through Community
MarvvyFC’s story added a humorous twist.“Honestly, I only attended my first Borderless event because of the food,” he laughed.
That lighthearted decision became the start of something bigger. Inspired by the community spirit, he decided to volunteer at the Borderless 2.0 event in 2023. Through volunteering, he connected with mentors and learned the value of contribution.
“When you contribute, you increase your value,” he said. “The community rewards those who give back.”
Wrapping up the session, host Esther Peter noted that each of the panelists represented proof of work, a reflection of what the Borderless ecosystem continues to achieve in the Port Harcourt tech space.
