With just five days remaining until the November 15, 2025, deadline, the Somnia Data Streams Mini Hackathon offers developers a chance to shape the future of reactive blockchain applications.
Running fully online from November 4 to 15 and hosted on DoraHacks, this 11-day sprint centers on Somnia Data Streams (SDS), an SDK that transforms on-chain events into live, structured streams without polling or external indexers.
Somnia’s Layer-1 blockchain already delivers over one million transactions per second with sub-second finality and sub-cent fees. SDS builds on that foundation by letting developers publish data, including game scores, market updates, and chat messages, using defined schemas and subscribe to instant push updates. The result feels like WebSockets, but fully on-chain. Builders can create real-time dashboards, prediction markets, multiplayer games, or decentralized chat apps that react the moment data changes.
The hackathon emphasizes experimentation over polished products. Participants need only a demo video, GitHub repository, architecture diagram, and deployed contract addresses (if applicable). Multiple winners will each receive $300 in $SOMI tokens, plus potential ecosystem support like mentorship and showcase features.
Today, November 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM UTC (3:00 PM WAT), a live Beginner Workshop streams on @SomniaEco X Spaces. Led by @OptiverseM2, Head of Product at MSquared.io and hackathon judge, the session covers SDS basics, live demos, and direct Q&A. It’s the perfect entry point for newcomers.
The event welcomes everyone globally. Nigerian developers can register immediately on the DoraHacks page, install the SDK via’ npm install @somnia-chain/streams’, and explore the full documentation at’ docs.somnia.network/somnia-data-streams’.
The hackathon presents an opportunity to prototype the reactive Web3 experiences users expect. Start building now and turn real-time ideas into on-chain reality.
