Keynote speaker, Great Adams, a Blockchain developer and the Convener for WEB 3 PHC, spoke on the journey into the future using blockchain technology. He started his session by giving a brief history of the evolution of the web, from web 1 up to web 3.
Using a quote by the co-founder of Ethereum, Great defined blockchain as an emerging technology. The quote says, “The future of the internet is decentralized, with blockchain and other technologies enabling a more open, secure and transparent platform.”
He sighted that even though Web 3 was secure there were so many Web 2 structures that were more safe. So why choose Web 3?
Great highlighted the following reasons:
- Trust Unified Agreement / Unbreakable Promise: With blockchain the goal is trust. Cryptocurrencies and blockchain is more than just making money and memes. It offers a secure and safe interface free of manipulation and third party encroachment.
- Agreements, Contracts and Promises: Everything that happens in life is built on agreements. With the example of pinky swears, he further explained how the web 3 space sticks to agreement and does not break promises. Unlike the web 1 or web 2 space, the web 3 space gives its users a secured agreement with trust and permanence.
So, despite the little challenges that the Web 3 space may have, people choose to continue building in the space for the trust and security it offers. He countered the idea that Web 3 is a money making space by advising that money doesn’t attract instead value attracts money.
Since the web 3 community is about building and engagement. He highlighted that his community, Let’s build DAO would be starting their Academy. The academy is opening an opportunity for people to learn different skills that will further improve the blockchain technology.
