Blockchain LAUTECH is a university blockchain community at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), dedicated to training and onboarding students into the world of blockchain technology.
On May 22, 2025, Blockchain Club LAUTECH hosted its third annual Bitcoin Pizza Day celebration. With the theme “A Slice of History: Building on Legacy,” this year’s edition not only honoured the historic first Bitcoin transaction for pizza but also reflected on the club’s consistent growth and community strength over the years.
Speaking with John Adekunjo, Co-lead Blockchain LAUTECH, he said “The Bitcoin Pizza Day is not just an event for us; it marks the historic day that changed the financial system forever. All that we are building and promoting as a club today has its foundation on this very day, which brought us into a decentralized system built on blockchain technology.”
The event featured several activities, including a session on the history of Bitcoin Pizza Day, a panel discussion, quizzes, giveaways, games, networking, community bonding, and, of course, slices of pizza and drinks to mark the occasion.
Byte onchain.news also spoke with Thelma Opurum, Co-lead of the Club, who emphasized on the commitment of the team to continue promoting education and adoption of the blockchain technology, while also supporting students to thrive in the industry.
Notable partners for the event included Faucet Drops, Qubic, Beacon Labs & Tech Solutions, ByteOnchain, Nova Labs, and Flat Eric.
Blockchain LAUTECH continues to position itself as a leading university blockchain club, and this year’s Bitcoin Pizza Day once again demonstrated that beyond learning about Web3 technology, its members are actively living it.
