What is Streaming Quadratic Funding (SQF)?
Let’s start with the word “Streaming” – content delivered in real-time to devices with the aid of the internet. “Streaming Quadratic Funding (SQF) is simply funding delivered in real-time to projects using the Blockchain”
What is Quadratic Funding?
If you participated in the last GG22 (Gitcoin Grants) round, then you’re probably used to the Quadratic Formula system for distributing Grants, usually called ‘QF’.
Simply put, quadratic funding is a mechanism used to allocate grants to builders, through a donation/voting process.
This is how Quadratic funding usually works, you had the;
- Pool of funds (For Grants distribution, let’s say $100k in ETH)
- Grantee (Projects or individuals who’d apply to receive a portion of these grants)
- Donors (People who’d donate to these projects usually $1)Now you might be wondering, if there’s already a pool of funds, why do we need donors again?
The idea is that the donors determine how much the grantees get from the pool of funds.
QF uses (Number of donations + amount donated) as an indicator that a project should receive more grants than others that did not receive multiple donations during the round.
The amount anyone donates is “Matched” with a certain amount from the pool using a formula called “Quadratic Funding Formula.”
SO HOW IS SQF DIFFERENT?
SQF takes that process and makes it instant. Donations and matching funds are streamed to the grantees instantly as they arrive.
So let’s try it out by donating to Bitsave Protocol!!!
- Make sure you have Eth on the Base network
- Requires either a GitHub account over a year old
- a Gitcoin passport score of 20
- or a Coinbase verification

You can follow the Flowstate Team’s dedicated guide for Bitsave by clicking here.
For a budget of $150 worth of ETH, you can set your stream to.015 ETHx/mo so it lasts for the next 3 months.
