The Ethereum Foundation has announced the launch of the Ethereum Season of Internships, a new program aimed at creating more structured entry points for early-career professionals and students looking to contribute to the Ethereum ecosystem.
The program addresses a long-standing gap in the space, while Ethereum consistently attracts new talent through events, hackathons, and educational programs, many newcomers struggle to find stable, long-term opportunities to stay involved. This new initiative provides a coordinated set of paid, remote internships across various Ethereum-aligned teams and projects.
Internship Overview
The internship program will run for 12 weeks, from August to October 2025. Positions will be remote and paid, with compensation set by each participating host organization.
Some financial support will be available for nonprofit teams offering internships. The internships are open to everyone, with a focus on early-career individuals and students. Participants will work on real projects across different areas of the ecosystem—including development, design, marketing, legal, research, and more.
Host Requirements and Responsibilities
To take part, host organizations must:
- Be active contributors to the Ethereum ecosystem (e.g., infrastructure, L2s, applications, tooling, etc.)
- Align with Ethereum’s core values: decentralization, open-source, censorship resistance, privacy, and security
- Maintain open-source repositories where interns can contributeProvide clear project scopes and defined learning outcomes
- Have at least five full-time contributors, including one or more available mentors
- Not currently participate in the Ethereum Protocol Fellowship
Hosts will be responsible for selecting interns, managing the internship period, and offering regular mentorship. They are also encouraged to document their experience to help improve future editions of the program. Teams that are unable to host this year can still support the effort by flagging beginner-friendly issues in their repositories to help onboard new contributors.
The Ethereum Season of Internships is a coordinated effort to give new contributors a clear path into the ecosystem. By involving more teams and projects in mentorship, the Foundation hopes to build a stronger, more sustainable pipeline of talent for the years ahead. For further details and key dates, click here.
