Cheric Leo, also known as Deborah Okwor is a Web3 advocate whose journey began in 2022, and since then, she has steadily built a reputation for her leadership, community-building, and educational initiatives. Starting as a moderator for Unizik Blockchain Lab, she quickly grew the community from 150 members to over 3,000, driven by a passion for Web3 and DeFi.
Her commitment and organizational skills have seen her rise from Co-Lead at UBL to spearheading key initiatives within the Borderless Dev Hub ecosystem. Cheric has not only organized workshops but also mobilized large events, bringing Web3 education to the forefront. Her impact goes beyond campus boundaries, having worked with major projects like Shardeum and Sui, and she has personally onboarded over 300 students into Web3.
Cheric’s Timeline/Proof of Work
- Community Moderator, UBL: Moderated Unizik Blockchain Lab, scaling the community from 150 to 3,000 members.
- Tech Club Lead, Borderless: Led Borderless 2.0’s Web3 watch party and helped establish Borderless Tech Club Unizik. She also co-organized a Build on Lisk workshop, attracting over 50 developers.
- Project Manager, Blockchain Revolution Conference: Cheric played a key role in organizing BRC 1.0, mobilizing 400+ attendees. She went on to be promoted to Head of operations due to this success.
- iPayBTC Campus Ambassador: Successfully hosted the first Bitcoin on Campus event, earning a promotion to marketing intern.
- Web3 Activations: Led activations for Shardeum and Sui, and assisted Borderless in its presence at Trust Wallet’s 7th Anniversary event in Lagos.
- Onboarding Impact: Directly onboarded 300+ students into Web3.
