The Lagos Impact Hackathon (LIH) 2025 is set for December 11-13 at the University of Lagos. The event involves a 48-hour coding marathon, designed to create tech-driven prototypes that tackle United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) innovatively.
With the theme of “Co-Creating Tech-Driven Solutions for Sustainable Urban Impact,” the event aims to bridge the gap between Web3 innovators, AI experts, developers, engineers, strategists, NGOs, policy leaders, and investors to create scalable, deployable tools rather than fleeting demos.
Hosted at UNILAG’s Guest Houses & Conference Centre for the closed hackathon phase (December 11-12) and the Main Auditorium for the public Demo & Award Day (December 13), LIH emphasizes real-world adoption. Participants will address pressing challenges like financial inclusion, climate resilience, transparent governance, digital identity, gender equality, youth development, and sustainable systems, all through blockchain, AI, and Web3 technologies.
Unlike traditional hackathons, LIH prioritizes compliance and sustainability, ensuring innovations integrate seamlessly into urban ecosystems for lasting change.
Open to teams of 2-4 (individuals can apply too), the event features dual tracks: “Tech for Impact” for building prototypes and “Marketing for Impact” for scaling strategies. Prizes total over $7,500 in cash, plus mentorship from industry leaders, investor intros, startup resources, and platform features, judged on innovation, feasibility, scalability, SDG alignment, and measurable impact.
For interested persons, the hackathon provides an opportunity to dive into Africa’s on-chain revolution. Web3’s decentralized nature aligns perfectly with SDGs, enabling transparent governance via blockchain and inclusive finance through DeFi. AI adds predictive power for climate resilience and youth empowerment tools. Registration closes December 4. Interested developers can apply here, while volunteers can register here.
