The keynote Speaker, Karla Nweke, a Business Developer and Founder of the Borderless Community Spoke on building wealth as a Founder in the web 3 space.
The Speaker highlighted vision as the most important factor before starting out a business or a project. In her words, “If you’re building anything it takes a long time but once you do you’re made for life.”
Karla started her session by sharing her journey of discovering cryptocurrency. Her career journey in the space officially started in 2018 by working with Blockchain industries. As her knowledge of the space grew she decided to fuse blockchain with entertainment, since she was a rapper, this led her to knowing about NFT’s.
The journey exposed her to the fact that one cannot enter the founder space with the hunger mentality. Once you decide to build a business that will last one has to build a vision.
While building Qulip in 2021, she still hadn’t gotten her vision yet, but at the time she learned that the Nigerian Community didn’t have enough people who could build, many were just users. With this lesson, for her next project, Bitsave, she decided to solve the developer issue in Africa by launching the Borderless community.
The goal was to build Bitsave, but to achieve that, she had to build a community. Her vision of raising African developers birthed a community with over $100k worth of assets currently, and different grants from several public goods grant organizations.
Her journey taught her that building and hustling are not the same. Without a vision, you can not be a builder or founder. She emphasized that consistency is one thing that is tried in the web 3 space but having a vision will help your brand scale.
