The panel session, moderated by Iniwura Okoro, brought together three distinguished speakers: Mrs. Onyeka Adedayo from Full Stack Market, Raretams, a Social Media Manager, and Chikwe Saint Victor, a Marketer. Despite none of them being developers, they shared valuable insights into thriving in the Web3 space through non-technical career opportunities.
Iniwura highlighted that success in Web3 isn’t solely dependent on coding skills. The discussion focused on the wide range of career opportunities available beyond development, as well as the skill sets required to excel in these roles. The panelists emphasized the importance of understanding how various roles contribute to the ecosystem.
“Web3 is tech, but you need businesses for technology to work. Aside from developers, you need marketers, lawyers, HR professionals, and more,” said Mrs. Onyeka. She encouraged participants to identify what makes them happy, as a career is something they would engage in for a long time. She also stressed the importance of learning to monetize one’s skills effectively.
Raretams echoed this sentiment, stating, “Not everyone should write smart contracts. You can explore social media management—there are so many projects that need people to break down concepts to enhance onboarding processes.”
Mrs. Onyeka provided a prepared list of non-technical career opportunities in Web3, which included community management, analytics, partnership management, product management, copywriting, influencer management, and executive assistance, among others.
Transitioning from Web2 to Web3
On transitioning to Web3, Raretams advised leveraging existing Web2 skills while deepening one’s understanding of the Web3 space. “DYOR—Do Your Own Research,” she emphasized, highlighting the importance of staying informed.
Exploring Opportunities in Web3 , Mrs. Onyeka suggested practical steps for discovering opportunities, such as using Google for initial research and leveraging platforms like X (formerly Twitter), which she described as a “Crypto Village.” She recommended joining communities like Let’s Build DAO and Borderless, subscribing to newsletters, and exploring educational resources on YouTube.
