Imagine a system where everyone has an equal stake in ownership and the right to make decisions that shape the future. That is what DAOs promise.
Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) is a blockchain based governance system developed to distribute decision making, management and entity ownership fairly among participants.
Let’s Build DAO (LB DAO) is championing this model across Africa, using real-time on-chain data to help developers, investors, and communities make informed decisions on what to build and fund.
The Founder’s Journey
In a conversation with Byteonchain.news, the co-founders of Let’s Build DAO, Great Adams and Alabo Excel, shared the moment that sparked their mission and made them say “we need to build this”.
In 2022, they were new to the Web 3 Ecosystem and thrilled by the idea of ownership. They decided to share the knowledge with other newbies in the space.
This drove them to participate in the Lisk x Borderless Hackathon in 2024 with a project called Let’s Build Community where they emerged 2nd place.
After the Hackathon they noticed that the other hackathon projects were not built with African users in mind, despite being built by Africans.
Further research revealed that on-chain data transactions in Africa were inaccurate or missing altogether, making it difficult for builders to develop relevant products or for investors to fund projects confidently. It also disconnected everyday web 3 users in Africa from the global economy due to a knowledge gap.
These insights led to a redefined mission for Let’s Build DAO, making sure to address the underutilization of web 3 and making sure that Africa leads its own on-chain revolution.
The Event- Let’s Build Meetup Contour
Let’s Build DAO is bringing its vision to life through Let’s Build Meetup Contour 2025, happening in two cities, Port Harcourt on the 24th of May and Uyo on the 31st of May, 2025.
Speaking with Byteonchain.news, Alabo Excel, explained the choice of cities,
“LB DAO is looking to onboard 5000 Africans on-chain by 2028. To do this we need to start reaching out to more people in different states across Nigeria”, he said.
He added that attendees should look forward to sessions on DeFi, interactive panels, networking opportunities and insights on how to grow in the LB DAO community.
“There’s so much in store”, he said.
To wrap the interview session, Byteonchain.news asked the founders what legacy they hope to leave in the Web3 ecosystem.
“Beyond spreading Web3 knowledge, we want to build an On-chain intelligent hub and provide other builders and developers with data to build products that cater to the needs of Africans,” said Alabo.
Let’s Build DAO aims to drive over 46 million on-chain transactions by 2030 and help Africa shape its future On-chain with data, governance, and innovation.
